Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the Village Historique Acadien close to Caraquet,New Brunswick, Canada.

Time

This was my second visit in two days as when I went the day before, it was raining and I wasn't very happy with my visit. Therefore, I decided to go there again and finish my visit correctly. It was taken just before lunch, at 12:03PM on August 16th, 2014. I was leaving Caraquet to continue a long road trip.

Lighting

It was an overcast day and I think that this helped to keep the perspective interesting without blowing out any highlights.

Equipment

This was taken handheld with a Canon 50D. The lens used is a 10-20mm Sigma.

Inspiration

As I was exploring this historical village, this pony came right up. He was friendly and I decided to change my lens to my very wide angle. I tried to get the closest I could to get the best perspective.

Editing

There is a bit of post-processing, but nothing excessive. I didn't have to crop. I played around with levels to get the correct contrast and luminosity. I also like to bring up the clarity slider to add more "punch". Finally, I added a bit of vignetting to help the framing.

In my camera bag

It really depends what I am going to photograph, but, my nifty fifty is always in my bag (50mm 1.8). Lately, I mostly have my Canon 7DII and a Sigma 150-500mm for capturing the bird migration.

Feedback

Lighting is always key in photography. But, as photographers, we sometimes don't go out during cloudy days. Even if it's raining, there is always opportunity somewhere. My biggest inspiration is travel, but why not discover your own country before going oversees. In 3 road trips, I have discovered a lot and have been inspired by my travels.
