Location
This was a shot of my niece who asked me to photograph her wedding day. It was in Norwich, England at the Guildhall and as usual for these type of events I was shooting guests as they arrived. The horse and carriage had to come in and go round a crescent drive so was able to get plenty of angles. The bride is a professional model and very bubbly personality as can be seen from this image.Time
We were very lucky as it was a glorious August Saturday afternoon in British weather, 5 years ago.Lighting
As it was outside and in various positions only natural light was used.Equipment
My favoured camera is a Pentax and for this I was using a K200d and kit lens with a bounce flash for guests in a decorative archway. For the more formal portraits inside after the ceremony a tripod was used.Inspiration
I like to take the formal portraits but equally try and get the candid/informal shots as well. This particular shot was instant and not rehearsed as she is that kind of girl that you can see projecting from her.Editing
I try to get all my shots 'right' in camera because I hate sitting in front of a computer for hours, so I probably only corrected the histogram slightly and I think the framing was ok so no cropping. In my camera bag
Pentax K30, 18-55 kit lens, 70-300 Sigma lens, 50mm Pentax prime lens, and a wide angle converter 0.45 for interior shots of stately houses. Flash, filters and batteries.Feedback
When doing weddings always have the camera ready to shoot and shoot everything as in there could be a little gem. If you have an assistant it could be useful while you are doing the formal stuff guests will be distracted with this and is a great opportunity to capture some really candid moments while their guard is down.
