Location
This photo was taken on my back porch during fall migration.Time
Mid-morning.Lighting
I used 3 off-camera speed-lights. The porch is always back-lit, making a flash almost essential for the subject. Getting off the porch and shooting in the other direction shows a lot of clutter in background, so I chose to stay with a background that was not distracting. I'm still working on the technique.Equipment
Canon EOS 7D; tripod, remote lens release, off-camera speed-lights. 75-300 lens.Inspiration
I love hummingbirds and have tried for years to "stop" the wings in an image. My hummingbird photography is a work in progress. I shot all summer and came up with 3 or 4 that stopped the action, but the lighting rendered dark backgrounds. My challenge this year is to lighten the back ground.Editing
Cropped the image. In my camera bag
Extra card, three lens, batteries, filters. Cleaning kit.Feedback
As stated, mine is a work in progress, so find what works for you and practice.
