Thank you! It is a 1954 Mercury Custom, and no, it doesn't just sit in the garage. It has been on multiple cross country trips.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Michigan, at the car owners home.

Time

Taken just after sunset.

Lighting

The underglow on the car was showcased by the wet concrete on the driveway. Camera flash and a front spotlight kit the car while one backlight and the gas pump lit the background.

Equipment

Taken with a canon 60d, one front light and one backlight. A running hose kept the concrete wet to provide the gloss look.

Inspiration

I love the look of the car and wanted to best capture its spirit.

Editing

One driveway crack was edited out to maintain focus on the car. Only other editing was minor brightness/contrast.

In my camera bag

Usually just camera and lens, I prefer to travel light

Feedback

My best automotive photos come when I put the car in a setting that suits it. After that take a bunch of photos from all angles. This one was the last shot of a few hundred in the series, I made one minor change and it made it the best photo of the night.
