I was there many years ago and have never forgotten how beautiful it is. You've captured it perfectly!

The lighting gives this the feel of a Thomas Kincaid painting. Lovely.

I think Hallstatt was created for postcards. It's such a lovely little town. I was there 32 years ago and it looks pretty much the same. Beautiful image.

Location
This photo was taken at the iconic UNESCO World Heritage Site - Hallstatt, AustriaTime
Time of day was just minutes before full sunset - to catch a little glow on the mountains and already get the illuminated church and buildings of Hallstatt And for this photo it was very important to catch the exact timing just before the sun sets to get enough natural light to keep up the balance between natural and artificial lightLighting
only available light was usedEquipment
The photo was taken with a Nikon D850 with a Sigma 12-24 f4 Art lens (@f8, 20mm, ISO64, 30sec), ReallyRightStuff TVC-33 Tripod with BH-55 ballhead Other equipement was - Haida 150mm filter holder with Filters from Formatt Hitech (ND64 and GND8)Inspiration
There are so many existing photos of this iconic place - my inspiration was to get a better oneEditing
Standard Lightroom development (shadows, highlights, whitebalance, distortion correction) and a few things in Photoshop (adding contrast, color balancing, sharpening)In my camera bag
Till this week I used to have the Nikon D850 but now changed to the new Nikon Z 7 mirrorless. Lenses: Nikkor Z 24-70S f4, Sigma Art 14-24 f2.8 (before the Sigma Art 12-24 f4) Filters:Haida 150mm Filter holder, Formatt Hitech ND64,ND1000,GND8 Tripod: ReallyRightStuff TVC-33 with BH-55 BallheadFeedback
Be there early to get a good spot before everything is crowded. Start shooting 15-20 mins before sunset - ideally bracketed (3 exposures) to catch everything shadows and highlights) in a 2 or 3 minute intervall (Then you can choose your best shot)
