This was taken in my front yard. The sun was setting and the fog rolled in. The reflection on the pond was incredible. I dropped everything and grabbed my camera. (Martinsville, IN)Time
Right before sunset.Lighting
The clouds, sunset and fog were incredible.Equipment
Canon 1DX with my Canon 50mm 1.4 handheld. Camera settings- Exposure 1/125 f3.5 ISO 500 Partial metering.Inspiration
My daughter is actually the one that noticed the colors. She enters our State Fair photography contest each year so of course she had to take a few of the same shots.Editing
I shot the image in Raw then processed in photoshop I then brought the image into Nik Softwares HDR. I did increase the pink saturation and black a bit then removed the neighbors mailbox. In my camera bag
I shoot a Canon 1DX as my primary with a 5DMarkIV as my backup. My go to yard lens is my Canon 100mm f2.8. My go to portrait lens is the Canon 85 1.2 and Canon 200 f2. I also pack these - Canon 70-200 f2.8, Canon 16-35 f2.8, Canon 50mm 1.4 and Sigma 135 Art.Feedback
My advice is to watch your surroundings train your eyes for great light and composition. Both of these are the most important elements in photography. You can have the best subject but without these elements your photos will be "JUST PHOTOS". Get to know your equipment! Know how changing your aperture and shutter effect the image. Last, pick up your camera every day! The greatest athletes don't train once a week. They have a mindset to be the best! Training is imperative!!!
