Location
This photo was taken in one of the poorest areas of my city, Passira, Pernambuco, Brazil.Time
It was a quiet afternoon for a walk with my family. We visited needy areas looking for people who needed clothes. We had made a collection in the city for a donation.Lighting
It was late afternoon and there was little light available, but I wore a lens with a good aperture, and sunlight still indirectly tapped the front of this lady's house. I held the camera quite firmly.Equipment
I used a Nikon D7000 and, maybe my favorite lens at the time, which is one of my favorite lenses to date, the Nikkor 105mm f / 2.5 AI-s. It's a combo that makes me very confident.Inspiration
The lady's deep expression quickly caught my attention. At first she was leaning against the wall, not understanding the movement, as we were driving in an area where motorized vehicles are uncommon. Gradually she understood the situation and became more at ease, her gaze was sad, deep, and the fragility that pierced me reminded me of a child. The cat appeared soon after, with the expression perhaps more typical of a cat.Editing
To compose the photograph in the edition I used a little of the method called "Brenizer method", using only two images to leave the photograph with a more interesting depth of field and an even higher resolution. I applied and adjusted the monochrome filter to add more drama and focus the viewer's look into the really interesting parts of the picture. In my camera bag
I almost always use a Nikon D7000 in my bag along with a wide variety of lenses. Tokina 11-16, Nikon 50mm, Nikon 80-200 or 105mm, 2x teleconverter ... You never know what you might need to make the best shot.Feedback
To photograph people, I advise you to pay close attention to their expressions to know when you should photograph them. Some people may be quite hysterical if they do not feel comfortable with your presence. Be kind and smile, but do not miss the opportunity to photograph if no one noticed you in place. Probably the most spontaneous photos you will make. Pay attention to the context in which the person is inserted, the things around him that define his personality. A face without personality is just a face. However, do not include too many things in the picture because it can distract the viewer.
