Wow, Alfredo! This is magnificent! I think the American kestrel is one of the most beautiful birds ever, and they are very difficult to shoot. Kudos!

Location
This Photo was taken in Lake Cerrillos, Ponce Puerto Rico.Time
It was 8:00a.m. when this American Kestrel flew by me with its prey. He landed on top a dry palm tree about ten feet way from me. The American Kestrel is one of the most friendly birds in Puerto Rico. I have a sense that he loves the camera, he posed for me like a model. People have asked me if this bird was in captivity and the answer is no. I never photograph any type of animal in captivity, I feel that takes away the fun part of wildlife photography.Lighting
Only natural light was used in this photo, no flash.Equipment
I Used a Canon 7d mark ii with a Canon 500mm f4 ii L series. No flash, photo was taken handheld.Inspiration
Nature inspires me to photograph birds!Editing
I used lightroom, not much was done to the photo. I worked the shadows and highlights and applied vibrance to the photo. Sharpening was also applied. In my camera bag
When I photograph birds I only carry lots of water, mosquito repellent and sunblock.Feedback
To capture a photo like this I recommend peolpe to wear camouflage clothes, be very patience and DON'T harass the animal. People have to understand they are intruding the animal's habitat, they are becoming guests to the animals. So be kind!
