This photo was taken in my home town of Spokane, WA. One of the beauties of Spokane, is the Spokane river that runs through the whole length of the city, and stewing hit through downtown. This photo was a sunset evening walking along the river, when the sun was setting just right to cast a perfect reflection on the calm waters of the late winter.Time
This photo was taken about an hour and fifteen minutes before sunset. The clouds were gorgeous and although the sun was high in the sky, a variable ND 10 stop filter gave me the looks I was hoping for!Lighting
The lighting was bright, but with the ability of having a ND filter, I was able to capture a perfect blend of the highlights and lowlights in the linear patterns of the clouds, creating for a perfect reflection and nice silhouette of the setting sun.Equipment
For this photo, all I used was a Canon 6D with a 24-105 f/4 L Lens accompanied by a variable ND 10 stop filter and a trusty tripod!Inspiration
Looking for ways to make the town I grew up in look beautiful! I was watching the sun that day as it set, and the clouds were starting to form the patterns as seen above, and the first thing I did was grab my camera and head for the river. I was hoping to create a beautiful reflection on the waters surface, and I feel that I did just that,Editing
I did do minimal post processing. I shoot in raw, so ultimately I uploaded the photo, and pushed the highlight tones down slightly, and pushed the shadows up to create less of a harsh contrast between the two. After that I compressed the file, and was finished. In my camera bag
My camera bag on average consists of my canon 6D, 24-105 f/4 L lens, a 50mm f1.8 USM lens, and a 70-200 f2.8 IS Lens. As well as a circular Poloraizer filter and a variable Nd 10 stop filter. Oh and my iPad! The wifi features of my camera come in handy to use that as my remote release so I don't have to Cary extra chords or shutter release.Feedback
Don't hesitate! This photo would if not happened if I would of hesitated to get to the river. I had a feeling that is where I needed to be and it was! You're an artist at the end of the day, be inspired, stay alert, and capture capture capture!
