Location
I took this photo in my Hometown of Spokane, WA. I was on top of the overpass at one of the turn offs of the freeway that I had been scouting for weeks.Time
This photo was taken at 5:30pm coming out of winter. If you're from Spokane you know that 5 O'clock means rush hour traffic.Lighting
I went out in this particular day to shoot because the clouds were large and billowy, with the blue hour light setting behind them it created a great contrast between the light trails of the passing cars and darkness that was setting.Equipment
For this shot I used a canon 50D (was waiting for my 6D to come in) but regardless paired with 18-55mm lens, and a polarizing filter, to help reduce ambient glare, that's all I need in the momentInspiration
Being born and raised in this city, I wanted to capture the elements that makes this city unique. Granted everyone has rush hour, but there is something very specific to Spokane that makes it memorable.Editing
I shot the photo in raw, besides a little contrast, clarity, and vibrancy tweaking, the photo is relativity unaltered from the SOOC.In my camera bag
I always have my Canon 6D, my 24-105 F/4 L and 50mm 1.8.Feedback
The best advice that I can give to get a shot like this is to get out and try! If you're not familiar with manual settings, start learning now! Don't let the camera decide how to get the photo, tell the camera how to get the photo you desire! Embrace that, and you will be well on your way to achieving the results you want!
