Location
This photo was taken at a venue where the couple had their engagement session.Time
We were done with our session and together we went to a place for a drink to wind down, relax and talk about the shoot. In the corner of the venue there was this light with all the little bulbs. I saw a reflection of them in a shiny flat surface and came up with the idea for the shot. I asked the owner if I could use the mirror for this incredible shot I had in mind. With me asking this crazy question, he actually trusted me completely. Someone took the mirror down and even wiped it clean for me.Lighting
I took the mirror, put the engagement ring on it and got my tripod out. With my camera on I searched for the composition I felt was right and set the exposure.Equipment
For this shot I used my Canon 5D Mark iii and a Canon 100mm macro 2.8. My settings were F5.6 ISO 100 and SS 0,6 sec on a tripod and used my Profoto b1 with gridded stripbox for lighting the ring in manual mode.Inspiration
Inspiration is all around us, it's all about being open for it so we can see it. If you have an idea, just go for it how weird it may seem. The most awesome things are out of our comfort zone, that is where the magic happens. Go for it!Editing
Other then converting from RAW to Jpeg and removing some dust particles from the mirror, no other post-processing was done.In my camera bag
On that day I carried one of my favorite lenses the Canon 70-200mm 2.8, Canon 24-70 2.8 and the Canon 100mm Macro 2.8. These are my go to lenses for most of all my shoots used in combination with my Canon 5D Mark iii. I love to have a Profoto B1 with me all the time, they are worth their weight in gold to me :)Feedback
See and feel the light around you, be inspired to try things out and just do it. Don't doubt yourself, you have the skill to do it!
