This image was tekn on the 2nd floor deck of our home in Grand Lake, Colorado.Time
The image was taken on August 14, 2010 at 7:45 AM.Lighting
Shot in the morning afer the low clouds lifted so I could get a clear background.Equipment
Hand held Nikon D90 with a Nikor 70 to 300mm zoom at 300mm (35mm equivalent 450 mm).Inspiration
This is one of many images taken to be included in a "Hummer" Folder on my website (www.GrandLakeImages.com).Editing
The image is about 2/3 of The original frame. It was cropped to remove a piece of a feeder and resized using Photoshop Elements. Some distracting wispy clouds were also eliminated from the background. In my camera bag
Sony Nex - 7 with lenses, filters, and extension tubes and A Nikon D90 with lenses, filters, and extension tubes.Feedback
Set yourself up in a comfortable chair pointed in a direction that will give you a clear background. It helps to be close to a feeder placed high enough so that you are shooting up. Dont worry about including the feeder in your image, you can get rid of it in post processing. Shoot fast enough to eliminate small random movements, but slow enough to get some wing blur.
