Behind The Lens

Location

This image was taken from the 2nd floor deck of our home in Grand Lake, Colorado.

Time

The image was taken on March 10, 2012 at 2:39 PM.

Lighting

This time of the year the lake often has some open water giving great contrast, but the presense of the snow and ice requires an over exposure of about 1 stop.

Equipment

Hand held using a Nikon D90 with a Nikor 70 to 300 mm zoom at 300mm.

Inspiration

The contrast between the blue water and white snow on top of the ice.

Editing

The image was cropped and resized using Photoshop Elements.

In my camera bag

I am currently using a Sony next 7 while hining (it's less than two pounds with two lenses and some extension tubes and filters. Around the house and close to a road, I often also carry my D90 with a few lenses.

Feedback

Bracketing is something I often do when my image will contain a lot of snow. The D90 foten underexposes images with lots of white in them.
