This was shot in the dining table in my apartmentTime
Late afternoon but being indoors the time of day really didn't matterLighting
I was experimenting with different items and modifiers. I believe this was shot with an Alienbee 800 with an octa.Equipment
Canon 50D, 24-70 2.0, Alienbee 800 with an octa modifier, white 3x5 bounce card.Inspiration
I was trying out several different ways and genre of photography, and was bored, so I set up my rig in my kitchen and started shooting. At first I was shooting with the candle lit, but then wanted to see what would happen immediately after being extinguished. As I got more into it I started thinking this would look good on the wall of my kitchen.Editing
A little levels adjustment and sharpening is about all I did.In my camera bag
Now I have a Canon 5D MKIII, Canon 24-70 2.0L II, Canon 50 1.8, Canon 85 1.8, Canon 100 Macro.Feedback
Make sure you're in full control of the light situation where you are. I had to put a black curtain behind this setup to keep the outside ambient light from affecting this. I didn't want any backlighting as I wanted the background to drop off. I used one light and a white bounce card.
