Brilliant shot! Crisp and clean from foreground to background. Great depth and POV. Being that the buildings on the train are different from the buildings on the left, I wonder was this 2 images? This is beautiful and intriguing. I love it!

Wow. Where do I start? You captured a perfectly balanced black and white shot of a train in motion in a perspective view. You even captured a reflection of the street along side the light rail in the train in motion. This is a really great shot!

Beautiful composition and contrast between the soft sky and the hard, but blurred, lines of the ghost train and the light trails with no cars. Nice.

Location
On a New York city subway platformTime
a Late afternoon on my way home.Lighting
I decided to get off a couple stops before my destination when I stepped out of the train looked back I saw the Sun settings over Manhattan’s skyline, traffic was moving fast bellow the elevated train subway station I was on, the shot was building up quite nicely in my head.Equipment
A wide-angle lens was my choice for this composition, I used a Nikkor 18-35mm at 18mm with a very small aperture around F16 coupled with a Nikon d600 which I really like for its dynamic range capability. To slow down the exposure to 30 seconds I used a Hoya NDX400 Neutral Density filter and my trusty table top tripod from Really Right Stuff. I used the built-in timer to trigger the shutter.Inspiration
I am constantly searching of ways to make my images a little more dynamic, I wanted to convey a sense of movement that was happening in front of me, long exposure helped me achieve that goal. I was happy with the result especially the train that looked like a ghost train streaking from one station to another.Editing
After importing the image to Adobe Lightroom I recovered some detail in the sky and lifted the shadows a bit in the bottom part of the image. I then converted the file to black and white using my favorite plugin NIK Silver EFEX Pro, there I usually start with the built-in preset then change the settings on the right to further enhance the picture and personalize my photograph. In my camera bag
In my bag I usually carry a small camera and one or two prime lenses, something like a (23mm and 85mm) or (14mm and 50mm) a small tabletop tripod and a few Neutral Density filters.Feedback
Carry as little gear as possible and focus on what’s going on around you. If you can’t carry a regular tripod use a small tabletop tripod. Get a set of good ND filters they will be worth the investment. Keep learning and concentrate on lighting. Embrace other forms of Art such as painting, this will help you see more creatively. have fun!
