....a Northern Harrier (grouped with falcons and kites) glides low over these grasses out in the prairie of southern Oklahoma... hunting no doubt, as I watched it flying just a couple of feet above the long grasses. Up close it has an owlish face that helps it hear mice and voles beneath the vegetation. This is a big bird ....the wingspan reaching almost 4 feet across.
