How to make Simple Shell and Sand
--->Hunter Gatherer Stuff - find yourself a light coloured shell and some sand. Mine came from Lucinda Qld, Australia - but one from anywhere in the world will do the job! My sand was insidentle - it came home with some other stuff. You never know when you will need some! Shake it into a box and keep it for later.
--->Step 1 - carefully balance a piece of clear glass on several wine glasses - I had 4 but broke one - 4 is best but 3 will work. I\'m pretty sure you could do it will 2, I\'m hoping I don\'t have to.
--->Step 2 - Lay a single layer of tissue paper over the glass. I ironed mine first, cotton setting is good with no steam. Wrinkle free is best!
--->Step 3 - Find something to stand your shell up on that is small enough you can\'t see from the front. Then, sprinkle a little bit of the sand around.
--->Step 4 - Now its time to mix in some light! This one is lit up with 3 Canon 600EX RT speedlights, an ST-E3-RtT to control them and a silver reflector. Place one speedlight directly under the shell pointing up into it. Place the second directly behind towards the background ( the background should be white). Place the third to the left or right of the shell and the silver reflector on the opposite side.
--->Step 4 - Add the camera and a lens that can get close up - I used a Canon EF 100mm 2.8 macro.
--->Step 5 - Shoot until desired result is achieved. You may need to adjust the output of your speedlights and move them around a bit to get what you want.
--->There you have it - Simple Shell and Sand. Stay tuned for more sweet treats!
