Location
Last year I spent and entire day Queensland largest event, the Royal Queensland Show. After the fireworks I went to take in all the spinning night lights.Time
It needs to be dark for these, its after 9pm and the crowds have dropped off a bit. I've carried around a small tripod all day just for this.Lighting
This is 100% available light. The camera set on Bulb with a remote shutter release attached.Equipment
This is my Canon EOS 70D with a Samyang 8mm f3.5 fisheye CSII lens mounted on a small lightweight Manfrotto tripod.Inspiration
I was inspired by the event, and the lights. This show has been happening every year since 1876 and deserves to be documented every year.Editing
I did the post processing on this image almost a year ago. I swear I've learned maybe 5000 new things since then and could do a better job today. In my camera bag
My favourite toys right now are my Canon EOS 7D MarkII and my Canon EF 16-35mm 2.8L. I'll also most certainly have my Canon EF 300mm 5.6L and the Samyang 8mm 3.5 fisheye.Feedback
There are alot of great opportunities during a show at night to capture some interesting effects from the bright lights of the rides. This image was captured at ISO 100 | f22 | 3.7seconds with a manual focus lens set to focus at infinity. Experiment with the exposure time and you'll get something different everytime.
