The Phoenix of mythology is described many different ways. Sometimes as a smallish falcon sized bird with majestic plumage that glows brightly ...emitting red, orange, and yellow light ... like a bonfire that is just past the turbulent flame.
.....Herodotus's claim of the Phoenix being
red and yellow is popular in many versions
of the story on record. He goes on to say
..."The Egyptians have also another sacred
bird called the phoenix which I myself have
never seen, except in pictures. Indeed it
is a great rarity, even in Egypt, only
coming there (according to the accounts of
the people of Heliopolis) once in five
hundred years, when the old phoenix dies.
Its appearance, if it is like the pictures,
are as follows The plumage is partly red,
and partly golden with wings of ash."
..... Likewise, there are three Phoenixes in paradise - the first is immortal, the second lives 1,000 years; as for the third, it is written in the sacred book that it is consumed...
.... Though size does seem to vary in witness
accounts, historical records, folklore, myths
and drawings ...one common theme exists.
...Its color and exotic plumage made it
stand out from all other birds.
.... The plumage consists of red, orange, and
yellow (gold), as well as ash or black therein
....as if it had been consumed by fire.
