My 12 year old German Shepherd Beau is the love of my life. My husband knows it, so do my kids! We rescued him about 11 1/2 years ago from a farm where he was being fostered after they rescued him from deplorable conditions as a puppy. When I walked into the house, I'll never forget, he instantly walked up to me, sat down and put his paw on my knee. I fell in love with him right there. He has always been a great family member and has never given anyone that comes into our home an issue. He is great with the neighbors, and awesome with other dogs and cats. Beau is so laid back, he loves to play with his ball, loves to eat, and loves his belly rubbed. He also loves to take walks in our woods, but unlike his little brother, Beau likes to walk up to deer and squirrel not chase them like Danny! :)
A week ago, Beau was not feeling good, so we rushed him to the vet, and the diagnosis was not what we expected. Beau has a tumor in his bladder, and was diagnosed with TCC ( Transitional Cell Carcinoma or Bladder Cancer) We put him on Peroxicam for pain and CBD oil. We will not be doing surgery, we have gone thru this before with our cat Mojo, did the surgery and lost him 6 months later horribly to a stroke on New Years 2015, he died in my arms, and I personally cannot go thru that again.
We have planned on making Beau as comfortable and happy as possible until he tells us he is ready. We have some "Doggie Bucket List" things planned for him, mini vacations, play dates, family get togethers and just lots and lots of love. We hope the medications will keep him pain free and with us longer than predicted but ultimately only Beau knows.
We love him with all our hearts and he has brought so much joy into our lives, it just isn't measurable. I'm sure his little brother Danny will be in some depression, as will we all. Beau is such a HUGE part of our lives.
Cancer is horrible disease, I hope in my lifetime, we find a cure for all cancers. But until then, I hope you will help me in celebrating the life of my very special boy
Beau-Dog.
Love your life, Love your Pets more.
