The bronze Little Mermaid statue depicts a mermaid becoming human based on the 1837 fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen. The sculpture is displayed on a rock by the waterside at the Langelinie promenade in Copenhagen, Denmark. The statue has been a major tourist attraction since 1913 when it was built.
