Using a long lens brings the ferry forward into a more important place in the composition. i placed the old stump with its jagged roots in front because In my mind it enforced the feeling of the waves on this windy day. Waves always seem too flat in photographs without the sound effects, the wind pushing against the body, the bite of the winter air.
