To create this image, I went out and bought a few saddles, plus a saddle stand to hold them, and a rider. Five different models, one snail, plus separate images of ferns from my backyard, and the bottom of the somewhat-drought-impaired Huntington Lake, California, were used to make this image. There is some hand-painting, hand-dodging-and-burning (using 50% gray layer in Photoshop), as well as some other detail work (primarily on the snail, to try to make it look different, since I really used only one snail, and just kept repositioning him for the pictures, and then I also re-positioned and re-colored parts of it in Photoshop to fit my idea of the composition better). I also used quite a number of filters to achieve various effects, often leveraging those changes into new filters. I think I ended up with something like 40 layers for this image. I love it. Some people don't. I hope you do.
