These recent photos I have taken of this cowboy are my very 1st attempt of photographing people. With just picking up my 1st DSLR in February 2013, I focused my learning to what was plentiful within my area of the North GA Mountains - landscapes.

However, it was not until recently that I met Ron Davis. You see, Ron is a USAF Veteran who did 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. His 1st tour as a combative photographer and the 2nd tour as a door gunner. By the grace of God, he was able to return home where so many did not. His photographs also became part of history.

Ron bestowed upon me the greatest honor of allowing me to view 27 minutes of his photographs that he had skillfully choreographed to music from his tour in Vietnam.

Yet traumatic and dramatic, his photographs moved me in such a way that left a historical reference that we, as photographers have the power to create. What power a camera can have.

I had never thought to capture people in my photography. Thank you Ron for sharing your most intimate memories of a most painful and sorrowful time not only for you but for your fellow comrades. I cannot thank you enough for the sacrifices you and your fellow brothers made for our country.
