Zabriskie Point: Death Valley National Park. 32mm | 6s | f/13 | ISO 100 Climbing up to this perch overlooking Manly Beacon in the dark was not easy. I continued a little further up the ridge hoping to show more of the shaded side of Manly Beacon which gave the shot some nice depth. We arrived early and started shooting. After reviewing all of my shots from that morning, I loved that the land almost glowed with a soft palette of colors before any direct light hit, allowing me to pull out a lot of the textural details and soft tones. When that sun comes up over the ridge behind you, it hits harsh and fast. This morning the moonset was almost perfect. This is one shot exposed for the moon and one for the rest of the landscape.

Thanks Derek! It is an exposure for the whole scene and then a darker exposure to compensate for the moon's brightness and blended.

Breathtaking scene and feels like you are right there. The color changes from warm to cool in the distance and the textures make it great.
