I was particularly fascinated by this Spanish photographer in Vigo, Spain in 1965 who is employing a "calotype" view camera in which she "shoots" a paper negative of any given subject by uncapping the lens briefly and recapping it. Then she processes it in all three solutions (developer-stopbath-fixer) right inside the camera's very own built-in "darkroom" being very careful not to "fog" the paper. Next, she places the processed negative onto a special easel which swings to the front of the lens, un-caps the lens, composes and focuses the negative image on the ground-glass screen and then re-caps the lens. Next, she loads the printing paper, briefly un-caps and re-caps the lens, processes the print, washes it afterwards and she is all done. In my opinion, the calotype camera could be construed as the "predecessor" of the modern Polaroid camera. Also, it probably can be logical to say that calotype photography is now certainly (or at least practically) a lost art. * Camera used with which this picture was taken: Voigtlander Bessamatic Deluxe 35mm SLR with its Zeiss-made Septon 50mm f/2 lens * Original film used: Agfachrome CT50 slide film scanned with my ION FILM 2 SD PLUS scanner into my Picasa3 software in my Toshiba laptop for digitalization leading up to publication.
