Taken from the front porch of the Vaughn-Webb House in Reliance, TN, this house was built in 1899 by the Hiwassee Union Church as a community building.
The bridge that can be seen in the background was built by the L&N Railroad in the 1870's. Across the river visitors will find the Historic "Watchman's House" circa 1895 which is listed on the national register. The Webb Family has restored this beautiful home as a guesthouse lodge. When you are on the veranda, sipping on your iced tea looking out upon the Hiwassee River Valley watching the ducks go by, you truly feel you have stepped back in time. In the summer, you can float down the river in a funyak or a river tube that you can rent nearby. How fun is that!
In addition to the Webb-Vaughn House, the Webb Family is also in the process of restoring the Higdon Hotel, circa 1888.

Exceptional contrast, as well as, the story behind the photo. The actual building is beautiful as well.

Thank you! This photo is special to me due to the history involved. It has since been accepted into the Blue Ridge Mountain National Juried Exhibit Contest which will be judged on September 7th. It's my very first contest and I'm SO excited.

I was told to add that this is a "single shot image." Again, I'm new to photography and I don't know anything about HDR or layering if that tells you anything.

Update....No win or place at the Blue Ridge Mountain National Photographer's National Juried Exhibit on 9-7-13 but that was my very first contest and I just started photography in February. I just have to learn from it, keep studying and taking more photos!

Thank you all for your wonderful comments, likes, favorites and PR. When I had this photo framed for the contest/galleryt it really became special to me as I framed it in wood that came from a family barn down the road that was built in 1840.

Very nice capture Terri!! Great job on the framing. Love it!!! You had mentioned in your Bio that you were new to photography and any suggestions were welcome. First off, you are doing an awesome job...keep it up and most of all have fun...One thing I see that would make this picture even better is to increase the saturation just a tad to add a little richness.
