Gomez Peak Loop - Little Walnut Area in the Gila National Forest.
This loop around the shelf of Gomez Peak is about 4 miles with an aggressive steep ascent and descent to the loop from the trail head below. Gomez Peak Trail System is located just five miles north of Downtown Silver City, just inside the boundaries of the Gila National Forest, near Little Walnut Picnic Area. The Gomez Peak Trail System is over 11 miles of non-motorized trail running through the forested stands of pinyon, juniper, oak and ponderosa pine and are suitable for hiking, mountain biking, birding, trail running and horseback riding. Elevations reach between 6,200 feet at the Gomez Peak Trailhead to over 7,400 feet at the top of Eighty Mountain, where spectacular views can be seen along the Continental Divide, looking south across the town of Silver City, west toward the Arizona border, north into the snowcapped peaks of the Mogollon Mountains and eastward into the Mimbres Valley and Black Range.

The sun sure looks warm but the mountain top in the distance says things are still freezing cold. Voted -- A Cold Winter Photo Contest.

It seems it is very hard to make a winter scene without animals have any appeal. Thanks for the "Absolute Masterpiece" peer recognition.
