The summer of 2016 was a tumultuous time in Southern California. Multiple huge and tragic wildfires raged in the blistering heat of summer. The Sand Fire was one of the most destructive of these fires. Consuming almost 42,000 acres of land, the fire sent soot, ash, and smoke cascading over the city of Los Angeles. Luckily, I found a model adventurous enough to head towards the flame in search of an epic photograph. We captured this. Very little retouching to the photograph, the sky telling the story of the fire.
