In June 2021, I spent a few days down in Rockport, Texas. Discovered this little park that serves as a breeding and nesting area (aka rookery) for a variety of shore birds. On this day I saw mostly great blue herons and great egrets but a few cattle egrets and white ibis were present as well. A few birds appeared to be sitting on nest already, but the great egrets and great blue herons were in full courtship mode. It was one of those days where the sky was hazy and overcast in one direction and beautiful blue in the other.
In this series I watched this pair of great blue herons in their courtship moves. This made me think of a song by the Romantics "what I like about you - you really know how to dance. When you go up down, jump around, think about true romance"
