This is Nikolai. He is a master craftsman specializing in hand-made knives. He lives in Bulgaria near the town of Sopot. In this photo he is creating a billet of Damascus steel which later became a hunting knife. The low light of evening made this forge work very dramatic with the sparks flying everywhere. I don't usually change photos to Black and White. However, I thought that it would make a dramatic image in B&W because of the dynamic range from white to black. I put this up here two different ways to get opinions from you talented people. Which do you prefer and why?
