Stonington Peninsula in Michigan's Upper Peninsula separates Little Bay and Big Bay de Noc of Lake Michigan. Recently, after dropping tremendously, the water levels in Lake Michigan have been fluctuating from season to season and year to year, alternately exposing dried up bedrock with dead fish and flooding new growth.
This photograph was taken in August 2015. The storm on the horizon seems to foreshadow the sometimes predictable, often ominous weather of the Great Lakes region. When I visited again in 2017, the water at Stonington was feet higher, and even larger shrubs and trees were standing in the Lake.
