Here is something we can learn from Nafrea about the techniques and story behind this awarded photo.

1. Nafrea, where did you take this photo?

Driving from Strahan to Hobart in Tasmania. The tree was just beside the road and it was spitting rain

2. What time of day?

This was taken mid afternoon

3. Anything worth sharing about lighting?

The clouds made the light perfect for bringing out the lucid us colour of the tree and grass and the rain gave me the really nice misty backdrop

4. What equipment did you use?

This was taken with the canon 40d with the 16-35mm lens on a tripod

5. What inspired you to take this photo?

I loved the way the tree stood tall on the hill top looking over the valley and I loved the rich colours of the landscape

6. Did you do any post-processing? if yes, tell us about it!

This was taken as a HDR to emphasise the full depth of colour in the mist in the background

7. What equipment do you normally have in your bag?

Canon 40d, 24-105mm lens, sigma 150-500mm lens, canon 100mm macro lens, tripod, flash, spare batteries and a ND filter

8. Any advice for others trying to capture something similar?

If it inspires you then shoot it, if it doesn't, then find something that does. You will always shoot better when inspired because your own passion and personality will come through in the shot
