This was taken on one of our walks by the river in North Yorkshire. My dog can smell water a mile off and loves to leap in from the bank. Trouble is no matter how far I try to back away from him, he always managed to get close enough to get me and my camera lens wet!Time
This was one of our morning walks so the sun hadn’t quite reached its peak.Lighting
It was bright enough for natural lighting which I always prefer. There were a few trees around but these didn’t cause a problem.Equipment
I’ve got a few cameras but if I remember correctly this was taken with my Nikon 7500. My sigma 50 mm 1:4 art lens is usually my choice of lens. No tripod.Inspiration
My dog loves to swim and with it comes the inevitable shake. I love these motion shots and these are usually quite amusing to catch the different facial expressions and floppy skin movement. I hoped if I got good focus on his face then it would make for a good shot. I must admit though that I took a few shots in fast procession to ensure I got at least one good one.Editing
I will have cropped and sharpened the image in photoshop. In my camera bag
When walking my dogs I try not take too much equipment as it gets heavy after a while. So generally just camera, lens, spare battery and a must is the lens cleaner to remove the water marks.Feedback
Patience, a good stance to keep the camera steady and to be prepared to get very wet. Take as many shots as you can during the shake as the facial expressions change several times.
