Location

Fountains Abbey North Yorkshire

Time

This was taken on a stunning sunny day around late morning.

Lighting

The brightness of the day was perfect to create a clear image. I feel that the warmth of the day projects through the photograph.

Equipment

This was taken with my Nikon D7100. Aperture f/5.6 ISO 100 Shutter 1/80. Handheld, no flash. I can’t remember which lens I used as this was taken 7 years ago when we didn’t appreciate how much days out like this could mean so much.

Inspiration

This is such a picturesque National Trust site. It was the way the reflections of the trees were so clear in the water and the atmosphere was so peaceful, showing nature at its best, that I wanted to try and capture that amazing feeling.

Editing

I worked on the sharpening and saturation of colours in Photoshop. I also lifted some of the shadows to try and achieve the look that I perceived.

In my camera bag

Now I always pack my Nikon 850, a macro lens and my Sigma 24-105mm 1:4. I rarely take my tripod anymore as I don’t seem to use it that much. Spare batteries and SD cards. Also a couple of good cleaning cloths are always a must.

Feedback

All I will say is my camera is a part of me. You never know when there is a beautiful image just waiting to be captured and appreciated.
