Location
It was on one of our college day trips to a bird sanctuary in Houtbay, Cape Town, South Africa... I really didn't think that I will be able to take descent shots because most of the birds are in caged areas.Time
This was shot around 13:00. The sun was quite harsh the whole day and I was taking a bit of a break out of the sun around the flamingo dam... Taking shot, after shot of the birds but kept on getting movement from the birds or I was way too late for a shot...Lighting
It was all natural light... The sun was quite harsh and I was struggling to get a good shot. After about an hour sitting at the spot clouds started to move in and as I got ready with my camera, this beautiful creature kept it's head right there... As if it was looking straight at me...Equipment
My Canon 7D, Canon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6. And I rested my camera on a wooden pole that was next to the dam...Inspiration
Just the sheer beauty of these birds, with their beautiful feathers...Editing
Yes I did, I used a little bit of Topaz Adjust. I pushed up the contrast and sharpened it... That was it...In my camera bag
Canon 7D, Canon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6, my humble Canon 50mm f/1.8, trigger cable, Triggertrap cable...Feedback
The weather in Cape Town, South Africa can change in an instant... From warm and sunny, to ice cold and windy in matter of minutes... Always be prepared for it and be patient... And best of ALL - HAVE FUN!!!
