I travel a lot, doing equine portraits of client's horses, so it's a treat when i get to spend some quiet time with the horses at home. I snapped this one of Annie as she proudly came over to show me a stick she had plucked up!Time
That morning, i had just finished the barn chores & wandered out to sit in the pasture with the horses, would have been about 10am.Lighting
A high overcast produced a lovely, gentle light that morning, no harsh shadows to contend with!Equipment
This was hand held using a Sigma 150-600 S on a Nikon D850. Natural lightInspiration
Annie is a quiet, affable mare, and very expressive! I just loved the expression on her face!Editing
I adjusted the levels a bit, and took down the highlights a couple stops, just to compensate for her white blaze. In my camera bag
Because i shoot a wide variety of subjects, from astro photography to portraiture, wildlife & scenics, i pack everything i can think of! Most commonly a D850 with a Sigma 150-600, another with a Nikon 85mm 1.4 & my "ready" camera, a D300 with a 70-200. That one is on the seat next to me all the time, for grab shots.Feedback
Knowing your subject can make all the difference! I knew Annie would eventually give me something memorable, so i just hung out & waited for her to do something silly like this!
