Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on the second night of a backpacking trip in the Wallowas in eastern Oregon.

Time

It was July 4th weekend and there were still patches of snow on some sections of trail. The time was nearing sunset. We were living normal camp life and noticed the lovely glow on the mountain.

Lighting

There was still plenty of natural light; I didn't need to make any special adjustments for it.

Equipment

I was already lugging around about 40 pounds of camping stuff, so this was taken with a simple point and shoot: Canon Powershot SD800.

Inspiration

It was simply a beautiful and peaceful moment and I wanted to capture it.

Editing

No, very little was done to this photo. I liked it as is.

In my camera bag

If backpacking, I only have my point and shoot and spare batteries for it.

Feedback

Keep your eyes open and look around in all directions. Moments like this are fleeting and can easily be missed.
