Location
This photo was taken in Sintra, Portugal. A mystical mountain on the most western point of Europe.Time
It was about 2 pm on a foggy winters day.Lighting
The light at the other side of the tunnel lit up the incoming fog, nicely backlighting the people walking there.Equipment
I took this photo with my little miracle Lumix DMC-TZ-100, an intelligent pocket camera with a nice Leica lens.Inspiration
Sintra is a mystical mountain with a great and long history of druids, wiches and kings. Many mysteries and stories are told throughout history and I wanted to capture a part of this feeling with this photo. The foggy mood and the light at the end of the tunnel formed a beautiful combination to express my idea of Sintra.Editing
I cropped the photo and played a little with the contrast in Lightroom, that's all.In my camera bag
I don't have any equipment in my bag (yet) I am a beginning photographer and I am learning to use a camera, to look for the good light, composition and point of view. One day when I know how to use and set the camera well enough, I will start to think about a bag filled with technical things instead of the need to understand photography first...Feedback
The first and best advice I can give anybody is to be patient and wait until that one moment you are looking for comes around... But before you can sit and wait to take the photo, you have to have an idea what you want to achieve and where. Look when the light will be good and from what position you want to take your photo. The right time of day and the right weather are important as well. In this case we went to Sintra on a foggy day with lots of light to take nice photos. The next step is to wait for the right amount of people entering or leaving the tunnel, creating the photo you were looking for. I allways shoot a wider area to be able to crop the photo later into a nice composition. I like to edit and crop in different ways, so I can choose the best one the next day, when I can have a fresh look at them.
