I took this photo in the gardens at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.

Lighting

I had to track this Monarch through various plantings before he became stationary enough to grab a shot.

Equipment

I caught this photo with my Nikon D3200 coupled with a 55 - 200mm lens

Inspiration

I was shooting pictures of the various flowers present in the Grand Hotel's marvelous gardens when several monarch butterflies descended on space..One monarch, in particular, seemed to be lingering on the flowers. I tracked him until he became a stationary as a monarch can be.

Editing

There was no post processing

In my camera bag

I normally carry my Nikon D3200 body, a 55-200mm lens, a 28-55 mm lens and a 175mm portrait lens i my bag.
