Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken near Giverny, France which is located in Normandy. In particular this stream is located on the perimeter of Claude Monet's Estate.

Time

The photo was taken around 10:00 a.m.

Lighting

The lighting proved a bit challenging as the dark shadows in the foreground were actually the images that I wanted to high light. I was afraid if I was to compensate too much I would bleach the rest of the photo out...... Fortunately I was able to make the adjustments very fast.

Equipment

For this shot I simply utilized my Nikon D3200 w/ my 50-200 mm zoom lens. I held the camera as still as I could and hoped.

Inspiration

I took this shot while on a side excursion trip from our Viking River Cruise. Our group had to cross the stream upon entering in the estate grounds. I happened to see the bamboo glen and noticed the angle that the sun was hitting the forest while glistening on the moving water. I stopped to grab the shot and 30 people got backed up behind me....

Editing

I am a purist when it comes to my photography. I do very little if any post processing. WYSIWYG

In my camera bag

Beyond my D3200 I keep 3 lens in my bag... 50-200mm, 28mm and a 135mm portrait lens. I have two optical filters, my charger, a spare battery and my flash unit.

Feedback

Keep your eyes peeled for images that would entail opening the lens accomodate images in the foreground. Though you might over expose the background the results can be very striking.
