Location
This image was captured at the march of the mermaids event in Brighton, a festival that happens yearly and my favourite as so many people dress up.Time
people were just arriving at about 10am, when this beautiful Lady passed me byLighting
the Sun was still rising and the light was fantastic against neutral coloursEquipment
I was using my trustie Canon 1000D with a 70-300mm telephoto lens, great as a profile lens between 70mm and 120mmInspiration
my inspiration always comes from the exploration of a subject or event, for me, photography is about finding the beautiful moment in any situation, or in this case, the beautiful moment walked past me.Editing
I think post processing depends on your approach to what it is your trying to capture, I use photoshop and lightroom for more art related pieces but refrain from effects when representing real life.In my camera bag
My Nikon D3200 goes everywhere with me, with a 300mm telephoto, an f1.4 prime 50mm, remote actuator, timelapse module and full water proofing.Feedback
remember to be in the moment, events are hectic and those special shots are easily missed. Find a slightly elevated position with good overall views, find where the most colourful, vibrant crowds gather and go mingle, most people that dress up at events want thier photo taken, so be brave and ask. Be prepared for the shot, test your camera before hand and look for interesting backdrops in the area. Look the part, it is important for the subject to feel a worth in the interaction. Carry your contact details and offer them to anyone you capture, so you can offer them the image, it can also offer the photographer exsposure or buisness later in time, and have fun, people are attracted to those that smile at them.
