Location
After yellow roses, day lilies are my favorite flower. These come up in my flower bed in front of my house every summer. The day lily is a good reminder to cherish the things we have today because tomorrow they may not be there.Time
In the late afternoon the day lily is in full bloom. Each evening the blossoms close and go to sleep until morning. This cycle happens just a few times and then the bloom is finished. It closes one final time and falls off the stem.Lighting
The best time to photograph these particular blooms is late afternoon. At that time they are fully open. They are on the west side of the house so the strong afternoon sun is falling directly on them at this time, making it easy to capture them clearly.Equipment
This, the same as most of my photos, is captured with the simple camera on my Nokia cell phone, specifically a Lumia 650 running on Windows 10.Inspiration
The blooms of the lilies in my flower bed were just in the right position to attract my attention.Editing
noneIn my camera bag
I use only my phone when taking pictures. It is convenient because I have it with me out of habit and it doesn't require that I carry any other equipment.Feedback
I love to shoot flowers and trees and other plants. I like it if I see something as it develops seasonally and try to capture it just at the right moment in it's life cycle, when it's position, color, and shape are at their peak.
