Location
I took this photo while walking the beach in Traverse City, Michigan.Time
This was taken during sunset.Lighting
It was an unusual sunset I thought the color was going to be insane but instead the clouds were the highlight of this eveningEquipment
Canon 5DSR, Canon 16-35 2.8 II with Singh-Ray 5 stop ND and Gizo tripodInspiration
I wanted to practice creating perspective shots but also wanted something minimalistic as possible once I had found the driftwood I knew I had my shot.Editing
I had processed the white balance, shadows and highlights in Capture One. I then brought the two files(one for the sky and one to the tip of the peninsula) into Photoshop and extended the sky by moving it to the edge of the peninsula with the lower photo then masked out the from the peninsula and down. I then added micro contrast with a few levels with Lumenzia's luminosity masks and CEP Pro contrast. Finished off with a small amount of color correction in LAB.In my camera bag
Zeiss Distagon 15mm with Singh-Ray polarizer and firecrest 165 plates of 3,6 and 10 stop ND Filter and 3 stop Graduated. I also carry the Canon 70-200 2.8 II with 2x extender. A Canon 100mm macro and Canon 24-70 2.8 II.Feedback
When shooting perspective shots make sure to leave just a tip of the horizon available so you can align it with the bottom image. Try to make sure that when moving your lens up and down that it doesn't go left and right. If that does happen the warp tool can be your best friend.
