I thought I was alone waiting patiently for my friend to go surf I then noticed her. She was patiently waiting alone just like me looking out into the playful ocean.

This photo was taken on the west side of Maui during a summer swell on a high tide at a beach called Ukumehame.Time
I was sitting on the beach around 3pm waiting for my friend to arrive to go surf. I noticed the high tide was washing over the tree and its gentle shadow. Still waiting for my friend to show up to join me for a surf I thought it would be a good time to snap a photo. Im glad he was late that day.Lighting
It was a beautiful bright and sunny day, which majority of time is the case for Maui. I used my neutral density filter (77mm ND 3.0-1,000X) to create the slow motion, dream-like effect. I always love when I can slow down time in this busy and crazy world we live in.Equipment
Canon EOS 7D Mark II, Canon 10-22 mm, 46/1 sec, f/22, 100 ISO, B+W 77mm ND 3.0-1,000X, Manfrotto Tripod, Canon Wireless Remote ControlInspiration
While waiting for my friend to go surf I was the only one at the beach. I started to feel all alone until I stumbled upon this tree playing on the shoreline. She stood there so solid in her curvaceous form and that is what inspired the name of the photo "And She Stands Alone".Editing
I try to not do a whole lot of processing in my work. I generally like Mother Nature to speak for herself. I did, however changed the levels and sharpen it a little in the image. In my camera bag
The equipment in my bag always is changing around but my go to is my Canon EOS 7D Mark II, Canon 10-22 mm, with a few filters and my wireless remote. I always bring my tripod along as well. I have my Canon 5D but I need to get a wide angle for it ... one day.Feedback
Don't feel that sunsets and sunrises are the only time to shoot perfect landscapes. I used to wake up everyday before the sunrise to get that epic shot until I bought the B+W 77mm ND 3.0-1,000X and a few others. Now I can sleep in once in a while!
