Located along the Snæfellsnes peninsula in Iceland. This image was taken during a lengthy sunset in early June when the sun sets only briefly before rising again, this image of the Kirkjufellfoss waterfall was a surprising favourite of mine from the trip. Typically the waterfall is composed with the Kirkjufell mountain in the scene, I felt this pretty little waterfall deserved it's own moment in the sun.

Location
This image of Kirkjufellfoss ("Church Mountain Falls") was taken near the Kirkjufell mountain on the north side of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula in Western Iceland.Time
This is my favorite image of the trip and probably my all time favorite as well. We had camped out at the location to be ready for sunset which started at 11:26pm!! Because of the time of year in Icleand, the sun dips to the horizon and then rises again three hours later which made for an extremely long sunset which afforded the opportunity for many different compositions of the area.Lighting
The light was provided completely by nature and it was pure magic!Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D600 and my favourite lens, the Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8. Camera settings were 17mm, f/22 and ISO50 for this 25 second long exposure. The camera was sitting atop my Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 carbon fibre tripod and 488RC2 ball head.Inspiration
Sunrise and sunset are my favourite times to photograph. I've seen many images of this location at sunset but they usually are of the Kirkjufell mountain itself, with the Kirkjufellfoss waterfall as a lesser element in the photo. On a whim, I decided to take a shot with just the waterfall, I'm very happy that I took a few moments to capture this composition.Editing
I shoot in RAW, so this image was processed in Lightroom to adjust exposure and colour balance. Photoshop was used to remove a few man made items and embelish lighting and colour. In my camera bag
My backpack contents are constantly changing. At the moment you will find a Nikon D800 along with my Nikon 17-35mm and 24-70mm lenses. Depending on the location, a Tamron 150-600mm can also be found taking over the majority of the center of the bag. Along with the above, I always carry various lens filters (ND16, ND110, graduated ND and polarizer) and of course the prerequisite accessories such as, remote shutter release, spare batteries, lens caps and a small flashlight. Depending on the time of year, you may also find bug spray or Heat3 gloves, toque and hand warmers.Feedback
Get up and go somewhere :) Check the weather for conditions that will improve your odds for having spectacular light. Stormy weather can provide some amazing conditions, but a heavily overcast sky for sunrise or sunset will ruin the light. It takes a fair bit of planning and almost as much luck to be in the right place at the right time for "the shot", Good luck my friends. :)
