Location
This photograph was taken at a lake at the Karri Valley Resort, just outside of a town in the South West of Western Australia called Pemberton.Time
I started shooting just before dawn and this photograph was taken at about 6:30 am.Lighting
I had to wait between shots to get the natural conditions right. There was fog and clouds around and every so often the wind would pick up, which moved the fog. At the same time the clouds moved and the sun broke through on a number of occasions.Equipment
At the time I was using a Canon 20D camera. The focal length was 33 mm at 1/180 of a second and the ISO was 100. No flash and hand held.Inspiration
I was in a bush setting, it was peaceful and just nature around. The tranquillity and nature deserved to be captured. The lake was protected and provided a perfect opportunity to try my hand at some reflection shots. On this particular morning when I got to the lake there was fog all around. While at first I was disappointed not to get what I was looking for I preserved and continued on. This was my first time and trying to get these types of photographs. This photograph is just one from that series and I am happy with all of the photographs.Editing
Being new to photography I still have no idea on how to use post processing software. So no.In my camera bag
I now have a Canon 5D MkIII camera, Canon MP-E 65mm, Sigma 105mm macro, Canon 16-35mm, Canon 24-105mm IS and Canon 100-400mm IS lens. Canon 2x tele converter. My tripod is a Manfroto with a MHXPRO-3W head. To make sure I don't drop my camera I have a Blackrapid harness.Feedback
Make a plan to take get the shot you want. But if the plan does not work out or circumstances change continue on, you never know what you will end up with. You spent that time going to the location you might as well take some photographs. This photograph looks really good when printed on metal and copies are available for sale.
