Beautiful cat portrait. Not sure how you got the cat to cooperate, but the results are wonderful.

Thank you :) Truth is he really didn't cooperate at all, it just appears that way ;)

I also have have a black cat named Zoe. She's a domestic short haired.
98% black except a 1 in white spot on her chest. My uncle a Magician said that was a special sign=Mystical!

Location
This shot was taken at home. Noah was relaxing on the couch and had no intention of posing or being cooperative.Time
This was taken at night with ambient room light and a speedlight.Lighting
I had just purchased a speedlight and was experimenting with bouncing the light friom this to get a soft ligh to compliment the ambient roon light which was two table lamps, to his left and right.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon T3i, Canon EF-100mm Macro f/2.8 with a Yongnuo 565EX Speedlite which was off camera and triggered by the T3i's onboard flash. ISO 100, 1/200 sec, f/2,8Inspiration
I'd been wanting to try and get a good portrait of Noah for some time but all the times I had tried in the past, the lighting was too dark. So, when I got the speedlight I tried again while I was playing around.Editing
I did a lot of post-processing on this shot, all in LR. The original SOOC shot is nothing like thiis finished piece, in fact it's hardly recognizeable as the same shot! The SOOC shot has him laying down with his head turned towards me in a 'get that out of my face' look! I cropped in tight to his face, made some minor global adjustments and then did a lot of burning with adjustment brushes to achieve the look that he was coming out of the dark and aslo kind of posing, which he definitely was not! I toggled show shadow clipping on so I could see the areas that may not have been entirely black that I wanted black and in places had to use a number of brushes over the same area to get the black that I wanted. I also added a slight matte using curves just to soften the image slightly. In my camera bag
My usual carry gear is Canon T3i, Canon EF-100mm Macro f/2.8, Canon EFS-18-135mm Kit lens, Hoya CPL Filter, Hoya ND400 Filter, Manfrotto Pixie, spare battery, spare memory card, small spray bottle, lens pen, pepper spray.Feedback
Be patient! My experience is that whenever I see a great shot with him and get my camera out, he sees the camera and no longer wants to participate. Be patient, try when they are more rellaxed and sleepy, maybe just after they have eaten. Shoot a lot of shots and then pick the best. When looking at a shot, don't look at what you have, look at what you could do and what you could have :)
