Location
This was shot in Upper Antelope Canyon, Page Arizona.Time
It was taken early afternoon. We had gone through the canyon, trying to chase the light beam. Toward the end of the tour, we were able to spend time in this area to shoot the falling sand.Lighting
I chose to go on the tour when there would be the most sunlight in the canyon.Equipment
My Canon Rebel t5i with my 10-18mm wide angle lens was on my MeFOTO tripod. No flash used.Inspiration
Spent 2 weeks in Utah, visiting the National Parks. Photographer friends on VB had told me this was a must-see place! They were right! It was beautiful and very unique. The canyon is stunning with its lines and curves and colors and soul. It's a spiritual place, indeed. It was very exciting trying to catch the light beam as it moved from "room to room" but in my opinion, the sandfall was even better.Editing
I shot in RAW and only used basic editing, eliminating most of the highlights and working with black and white clippings. The beauty was already there. I just took the picture. :-)In my camera bag
I have 2 camera bodies - a Canon Rebel t3i and a t5i so that I don't have to keep changing lenses. Both are usually attached to my Black Rapid strap which I find very useful. I have 4 lenses - 10-18mm, 17-55mm, 70-300mm, and a macro. I have a MeFOTO tripod that I keep handy. For my Utah trip, I used polarizing filters for the most part, although not in the canyon, of course.Feedback
If it weren't for conversations I had had with my fellow VB'ers (many thanks to Bozzzzz, mcampi, and nina050), I may not have put Antelope Canyon in my itinerary. Talking to friends about my upcoming travels paid off since I was then able to research and plan for the shoot ahead of time. A tripod is essential for this kind of shot.
