Great shot. I like the composition, the man looking towards the sun's direction is a great leading line! Congrates on the excellent capture!

Thanks. The man is my son (16 at the time) dreading the start of school the following week. Appreciate the comment.

Location
This photo was taken at Tranquility Beachfront Hotel & Resort on Marathon Key in the Florida Keys facing the Gulf Coast.Time
This is actually one of my favorite shots. This was our annual summer vacation (we live on Long Island, NY) and we chose the Florida Keys for this trip. I'm big on chasing sunrises/sunsets and was enjoying a cold beer when my 17 year old son Justin showed up. The sun was setting and he sat down to enjoy the view. I set up behind him to get the shot as he contemplated his final year of high school that would start in about 2 weeks. The light was fantastic and I really liked the way it reflected off of him as he was deep in thought.Lighting
The lighting was all natural with the setting sun providing a yellow/orange glow.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon 70D, 10-18mm (@ 10mm) wide angle lens, f/16, 1/80 sec, ISO 100 and Lightroom processing.Inspiration
My first time in the keys and seriously embracing my photography hobby for the last year and a half, so I'm always looking for the perfect shot. I enjoy shooting landscapes and the Florida Keys offer ample opportunities. With my son sitting there and the sunset reflecting off him, it just made for the perfect shot.Editing
I am shooting raw and post processioning in Lightroom and typically export to .jpg format. Minor adjustments to exposure, highlights, shadows, clarity, sharpening and lens correction. Just started to dip my feet into Photoshop. In my camera bag
Canon T1i and 70D, 10-18mm, 18-55mm and 18-135mm lens, and a Promaster tripod, 10 stop ND filter.Feedback
I'm continuing to learn and my interest lies in landscape, night and astro photography. I'm reading a lot and using the internet to educate myself trying to make each shot better. On the photos I like, I look at the EXIF data to see how is was shot so I can learn how to capture that type of image. I always try to shoot when I'm on vacation and am always shooting at home. Look around where you live, some great places are definitely there waiting for you to photograph. There are tips and tricks to shooting landscapes and sunsets/sunrises including providing foreground interest and leading lines to the object in the distance. Get out and shoot, join some clubs (even online) and ask for constructive criticism of your work. All of this will make you a better photographer.
